  • Jana Hocking urges single women to stop ignoring men under 6ft
  • He pulled left on them in favor of tall men despite being 5’3
  • That was until recently when she went on one of her best dates

I confess that I have committed a terrible crime. Deeply shallow, completely discriminatory, and left me alone for far too long.

I hang my head in shame as I admit it… sin on the low kings slips to the left.

These huge, short men usually stand around 5’7 (give or take) and are ignored by the masses. Seriously, ask any woman what their contract breakers are when it comes to dating and the answer (after a few wines) would be men under 6 feet.

Now, if you were to look for a short man in the wild (aka any bar, pub, or sporting event in town), you could actually find them easily.

They are the short, cheerful guy who has the confidence and strength of character to thrive despite conventional beauty standards. It’s like you shouldn’t be attracted to them… and yet you are!

Jana Hocking has ignored men under 6ft on dating apps and urges women to start trying: ‘What the hell are we doing?’
The problem is that we think of tall men and we think of dominance and strength, but has no one seen a Tom Cruise action movie? He comes in at 5’7. I remember interviewing her a few years ago and despite my high heels and platform shoes we were the same height

He carries himself like a 6ft guy, I think he could even be compared to BDE – Big d**k energy – but in this case in height.

Right now I can think of three things I’m attracted to, but it wasn’t an easy road to that realization, oh no. First I had to swipe right on all the tall, genetically blessed douchebags.

And here’s the thing that makes it even meaner… I’m petite myself at 5’3, so really, who am I to pick on how tall someone is? And yet, I found myself setting the dating app to men 6 feet tall and taller. Just a shame, a shame Jana Hocking.

On the one hand, because even in heels I look ridiculous next to such a tall person, and on the other hand, height does not equal chemistry.

I discovered this the other day when I went on a date with a guy who looked much taller on his dating profile pictures than he actually was. When he rose from the bar stool to greet me, I am ashamed to say that I was upset when I realized that we had met face to face in the height.

Then there’s Jason Statham at 5’10 (pictured with model wife Rosie), Zac Efron at 5’8, Bruce Lee and Al Pacino at 5’7. Oh, and Mark Wahlberg at 5’8. Oh my goodness, even Daniel Radcliffe has conquered Voldemort at a tiny 5’5

Right off the bat, I had very low expectations for the date and thought, oh well, sit down for a drink and make the most of it. The plot twist turned out to be one of the best dates I’ve ever been on.

He was funny, polite, and once I looked past the height issue, he was ridiculously attractive. Big blue eyes, broad shoulders and confidence in spades.

I woke up the next day on a high, and also with a hint of regret. How many awesome guys have I missed meeting because I literally ignored them?

The problem is that we think of tall men and we think of dominance and strength, but has no one seen a Tom Cruise action movie? He comes in at 5’7. I remember interviewing her a few years ago and despite my high heels and platform shoes, we were the same height. I admit, I literally fainted when I met him. Heck, even Sylvester Stallone fits in at 5’6.

Don’t take my word for it, science actually proves that they are the superior mating species

And here’s the final kick in the pants… Both Brad Pitt and George Clooney are well under 6 feet at 5’10.

So ladies, what the hell are we doing? These men are laughing all the way to the bank and sitting front row at the Victoria’s Secrets show. And yet we are picky?

But don’t just take my word for it, science actually proves that mating species are superior. According to a recent study by e-harmony, shorter men tend to compensate for their height. They tend to be sensible, kind and less likely to cheat. Well, that’s a little treat! They are even known to contribute more to household chores and contribute more financially.

So ladies, do a solid and change your height preferences. If you keep swiping left on them, you’re missing out on a world of enjoyment. You are welcome in advance.
