The Fossil smartwatches app used to be exclusive to the company’s hybrid smartwatches, but due to the availability of Wear OS 3, the app is now available for all smartwatches. With the Fossil Smartwatches app, you can edit watch settings, change watch faces or tiles, locate your device, and even connect to Google Fitness.
The app also displays all the health and fitness metrics of your Fossil smartwatch so you can understand and view them. That said, it’s not a robust experience, and the app’s navigation and user interface can be a bit confusing, if not somewhat intuitive.
Luckily, we’ve used enough devices like the Fossil Gen 6 Wellness Edition to help us through some of the app’s main features. But keep in mind, the app only works for Fossil hybrid smartwatches or touchscreen watches that have been updated to Wear OS 3.
For Skagen Falster Gen 6 owners, the Skagen Smartwatches app is pretty much the same and these steps should work similarly.
Set up a Wear OS smartwatch with the Fossil smartwatches app
1. After downloading the Fossil Smartwatches app, open it and log in.
2. Select it “Touchscreen” if you have a Wear OS 3 smartwatch.
3. Accept Google Terms and Conditions.
4. Connection the watch with Bluetooth connection when it appears in the menu. Make sure the clock is on.
5. Once you have joined, copy Google Accounts to the watch.
6. Follow the instructions you can set up the Alexa assistant, screen lock, and enable tracking features with the Fossil Wellness app.
After setting up the watch, you can access a lot of functions and actions. Your fitness metrics are always displayed on the home screen, and you can tap them to see more details about your steps, activities, sleep, and more.
Change your clock face and tiles
1. Tap the the smartwatch image in the center of the app’s home screen.
2. Swipe up to select the application tiles you want to add.
3. When finished, touch and hold to select a tile and drag it to the desired position on your watch. You can also delete unwanted ones using the trash can icon.
4. Swipe your finger to “My Face” to change the watch face.
5. Swipe up to choose from the options.
6. After choosing your watch face, you can customize it by editing colors and complications.
Changing tiles and watch faces on Wear OS is pretty easy, and the app lets you choose from a variety of watch faces.
If you’re using a hybrid smartwatch, your customization is somewhat limited as you can’t change any of the color settings. However, you can upload a picture from your phone’s gallery to make the watch better match your style.
Change the clock settings
1. Tap the the smartwatch image in the center of the app’s home screen.
2. Tap the settings gear in the top right corner of the app. Alternatively, you can select it “My settings” in the carousel on the main page for faster access.
You can change most of your smartwatch’s settings here instead of changing them on the watch itself. This can prove to be faster than going back and forth between individual menus in Wear OS.
Connect Fossil Smartwatches to Google Fitness
1. Tap the the hamburger menu in the upper left corner.
2. Select it “Wellness” in the side navigation menu.
3. Tap the “Connected Apps.”
4. Check “Google Fitness” to connect apps and sync health and fitness data.
Since Google Fit wasn’t updated to support Wear Health Services until the Wear OS 3 update, Fossil made it possible to sync health data with the Fossil Smartwatches app. This way you can ensure that you don’t miss a single workout.
Take a screenshot of your Fossil smartwatch
1. Follow the previous instructions to access the clock settings.
2. Scroll down and Tap the “System.”
3. Select it “Request Wear OS screen shot” and select it the contact or method you want to use when the sharing panel pops up.
Unlike Samsung smartwatches like the Galaxy Watch 5, which use a two-button tap borrowed from Android phones, Fossil still relies on the older Wear OS 2 method for taking screenshots. This means you can only execute them from the companion app, which is a rather clunky experience.
When you request a screenshot, you will immediately be prompted to send it, which is not always the goal, but at least this way you can upload the image to services such as Google Photos.
Find your watch with the Fossil Smartwatches app
1. Tap the the clock icon in the upper right corner.
2. Swipe up and select it “Find my watch.”
3. Make sure “Location on map” is turned on.
Fossil’s Wear OS 3 watches include GPS, which means you can get a good idea of where the watch was last. Alternatively, you can use Google’s Find My Device app to locate your Fossil smartwatch.
How to change the clock
1. Tap the the clock icon in the upper right corner of the home page.
2. If you have more than one Fossil smartwatch, steal ovefor the watch you want to use.
3. Tap the “Make it active” and Wait to be set by the application.
There are many different brands under the Fossil Group that use the Fossil Smartwatches app. If you have multiple Fossil smartwatches, the app makes it pretty easy to switch between them, including Fossil’s hybrid smartwatches. Just know that only one watch can be “active” at a time, meaning it’s the device that will sync with the Fossil Smartwatches app.
Unpair and reset the watch
1. Tap the the clock icon in the upper right corner of the home page.
2. Swipe up until you find “Unpair & Reset”. Tap the that.
3. confirms select it and wait for the application to finish resetting the clock.
Sometimes you run into problems with your smartwatch or simply need to pair it with a new smartphone. For Wear OS users, this unfortunately means unpairing your current phone and resetting the watch. If you do this, the clock will be deleted and you will have to set it again.
