Today, more than ten million drivers use the “My BMW” and “MINI” apps, which contain a wealth of smart functions, practical services and useful tips – two million even on a daily basis. With the help of applications, drivers can always be up-to-date on the status of their vehicles. The app can also be used to lock and unlock doors, activate climate control/ventilation, and depending on the vehicle’s equipment, view the vehicle’s surroundings and interior using Remote 3D View. You can also send destination addresses from the app to your vehicle’s navigation system very easily. What’s more, the app can handle third-party services like Amazon Alexa**. In the “Services and stores” tab, the customer can get an up-to-date overview of the digital services that are available and reserved for their vehicle at all times, as well as conveniently and flexibly add ConnectedDrive updates. Together with the BMW Digital Key Plus and depending on the vehicle’s equipment, the “My BMW” app can carry out previously saved maneuvers and automated parking functions from a distance of approximately six meters.

The apps also offer many useful functions for electric vehicles. For example, customers can receive real-time information on their charge status and electric range, and receive push notifications during charging when the battery reaches its target charge level and possible irregularities. In Europe, customers’ BMW or MINI Charging contracts can be stored in the applications if required. This enables digital authentication through the app at more than 400,000 charging points in Europe. Invoicing is done conveniently every month, with the stored payment method, using BMW/MINI Charging.

Another core function of both apps is to manage your vehicle’s service and maintenance needs. When the customer’s vehicle is due for service, they will receive a push notification and book an appointment directly in the app. The entire service process is supported by the app with login, service video, status tracking and payment. Of course, if the customer’s vehicle is involved in an accident, the app also offers a quick and efficient way to call Roadside Assistance.

The “Discover” tab offers interesting content about BMW and MINI brands, products and services, including helpful how-to videos.

A special feature of both applications is the demo mode. It offers a selection of demo vehicles so that users can explore the functionality of the applications without owning a vehicle. The demonstration mode creates an authentic BMW and MINI experience – almost as if the vehicle is already in the user’s garage.

BMW and MINI customers can also access information about the vehicle’s status and range through the corresponding Apple Watch app.

Since the introduction of the apps, they have been in high demand and have continued to improve.

The “My BMW” and “MINI” apps were both launched in July 2020, replacing their predecessors, the “Connected” apps. Since then, the applications have been continuously expanded and optimized based on user feedback. Both apps will continue to receive updates every two months, and their range of features will also expand.

Since September 2022, the “My Trips” function of the “My BMW” app allows owners of all BMW drive variants to receive trip statistics and information on energy consumption, average speed and CO2 emissions of past trips. The “My Trips” features will be further expanded in the future, for example with tips for an efficient and sustainable driving style.

On the “Map” tab, the user can search between filling stations and filling stations and, among other things, conveniently compare fuel prices without having to open another application. From December 2022, BMW drivers in Germany and Austria can activate automatic parking payment in the vehicle in the “My BMW” “Services and business” tab, as well as end and extend active reservations, view their parking history and manage their payment method. approx.
