The Patient is one of Disney+’s newest series, but there’s one element of the show that fans aren’t happy about
Viewers have taken to Twitter to discuss Disney+’s new drama The patient – and have the same complaint about the series. Don’t worry, we’re not going to reveal any spoilers here – but it sounds like fans were very unhappy with the ending.

On Twitter, one person wrote: “NOT happy with the ending of #ThePatient. Steve Carell acted like his [expletive] heart out.” Another person added: “So who else has seen #ThePatient and thinks Steve Carrell gave an amazing performance but is deeply unsatisfied.”

A third person added: “#Patient had great acting, great dialogue, very exciting to show that they primarily take place in the basement, but after nine episodes with a build-up, I’m very disappointed with that ending. The last 15 the minutes just got annoyed. me.”

Others were more complimentary, with one writing: “Literally just finished a whole series tonight instead of getting proper sleep, but it was worth it.” Another person added: “Just finished #thepatient with @SteveCarell and it was absolutely amazing. I’m here bawling oh my god. Seriously. Didn’t see that coming. Unbelievable.”

So what is the show about? Starring Domhnall Gleeson and Steve Carell, the story follows Alan Strauss, a therapist held captive by a patient, who turns out to be a serial killer. Sam has an unusual therapeutic request for Alan: curb his homicidal urges.

The synopsis reads: “To survive, Alan must disconnect Sam’s disturbed mind and stop him from killing again… but Sam refuses to broach critical subjects… Over the course of his incarceration, Alan uncovers not only the depth of Sam’s compulsion, but also how much work he must do to repair the breach in his own family. With time running out, Alan desperately fights to stop Sam before Alan becomes complicit in Sam’s murder, or worse – becomes a target himself.”
