Steve Irwin’s kids encourage mom to try dating apps 17 years after death
Steve Irwin, known as the Crocodile Hunter, died aged 44 in 2006 after being injured by a stingray while filming a documentary.
Steve Irwin’s children Bindi and Robert are reportedly encouraging their mother to try dating years after her death.
The crocodile hunter died in 2006 at the age of 44 after being injured by a stingray while filming a documentary.
He leaves behind his wife, Terri, 58, and their children, Bindi, 24, and Robert, 19.
And now it’s being reported that the siblings want their mum to ‘find happiness again’.
“Bindi and Robert have been trying to get Terri to freshen up her look,” an insider said recently.
“She’s beautiful under all that khaki and deserves to show it off.”
They added to New Idea: “There’s a bit of an ulterior motive on the part of the kids – they want to dress her up and take her picture to help her join dating apps.”
The insider explained that Steve’s children know that he will “never find someone like their father” and simply want their mother to “know that happiness again.”
The Mirror has contacted his representatives for comment.
When Steve died, Terri and the children were in Tasmania when she learned of his tragic fate.
“I remember him waving goodbye at the catwalk. That was the last time we saw him,” he said.
Terri heartbreakingly revealed that Steve was considering retiring from his TV career before embarking on what would be his final adventure.
The environmentalist said that he wanted to focus on his family life and his children, who were only eight and three years old at the time of his death.
“I remember him saying to me, ‘I don’t think I’m going to shoot anymore; I think I’m just going to spend time with my kids,” Terri said.
Terri first met Steve in 1991 when he was visiting wildlife rehabilitation facilities in Australia – and it was ‘love at first sight’.
At the time he said: “I thought there was nothing like it anywhere in the world. He sounded like an environmental Tarzan, a larger-than-life superhero guy.”
The author was actually convinced that Steve had a girlfriend when they first met because he seemed like the perfect man – and she played a prank on him, pretending to get caught.
They had a whirlwind romance and got engaged after just four months, tying the knot in June 1992.
