Stay organized with calendar apps, alarms, and reminders
You’ll hear a ringing sound on your laptop or tablet, feel a slight vibration on your smartphone or smartwatch, or see a pop-up notification while using any app.
Sometimes it can be convenient to share a calendar with a spouse, partner, child or designated caregiver. In general, go here Settingsfind the app and select it Opportunities and choose something similar Share with specific people obsession Add people to this calendar.
Just like a nighttime alarm clock, a calendar alarm can also notify you. You can choose sound, vibration, flashing light or popup on your device.
How you’re notified depends on the device you’re using and whether you’ve selected Accessibility. Smartwatches synced with your smartphone can tap your wrist lightly to alert you of something.
But you don’t need a digital calendar to take advantage of the sophisticated alarm features on computers, smartphones, smartwatches and tablets. Just type alarm in your device’s search box to find it.
Manage your tasks with voice assistants
If you prefer a voice-based personal assistant like Alexa, Google Assistant, or Siri, make a reminder request. The same goes for smart speakers and smart displays like the Amazon Echo or Google Nest, which can help you stay up-to-date by using a wake word or phrase like “Hey, Siri,” “OK, Google,” or “Alexa.”
Follow up your message with “Remind me to pick Jane up from the airport in 2 hours” or “Remind me to call the doctor tomorrow at 9:30 about my lab results.” These are great for timing meals or even for short naps.
A voice-activated reminder can also help with recurring events: “Alexa, write in your calendar every day at 8am, ‘take your pills’.” ” Call your personal assistant to check your calendar: “Hey Siri, what’s on my calendar today?” or “OK Google, when am I having lunch with Michael?” or “Alexa, what time is my first appointment tomorrow?”
To connect your digital calendar app to a smart speaker, launch the Alexa app on your mobile phone to an Amazon Echo speaker. Go Menu | Settings | Calendar and email and select the calendar account you want to sync. The process is similar for Apple and Google.
Some smart displays sync your digital calendars with alarms, reminders, notes and other features. The largest currently available are the Amazon Echo Show 15, with a 15.6-inch display measured diagonally, and the 10-inch Google Next Hub Max. These are usually placed in a busy room of the house to visually reference important dates, recipes, reminders, and photo slideshows. .
