As industries seek to make the most of ChatGPT, companies are looking for practical applications for generative artificial intelligence (AI) to serve their businesses and the public. The new PLNT The app showcases the potential of generative AI by adapting it to plant identification and management.
Since the pandemic and the shift to working from home, plant ownership has increased. Currently, two-thirds of American households own at least one houseplant. Houseplants are especially popular among younger generations, with millennials driving plant sales growth and accounting for 66% of new potted plant purchases.
However, plant enthusiasm is not just for green thumbs. Being around houseplants can improve mental health and well-being, reduce stress and increase feelings of positive emotions. Plants can also reduce the amount of harmful toxins in the air by 87%, and research shows that owning a houseplant can increase productivity by up to 15%. No wonder the plant and flower growing market is worth $18.5 billion.

The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) is also getting involved and supporting urban agriculture developments across the country. To support its initiatives, the department recently invested an additional $14.2 million to promote urban green spaces and promote agricultural activities in urban communities.
However, long-term plant care is not always easy. According to a Statista poll, more than 70% of houseplant owners admitted to having recently destroyed a plant, with some losing six or more. Knowing how to care for different types of plants and how much sunlight, water, and fertilizer each plant needs can be tricky. PLNT is a new app that serves as a gateway for beginners and veterans alike to provide proper care and attention to their plants.
Plant App personalized with AI
PLNT integrates generative artificial intelligence to personalize the user experience and provide guidance for the care of all plant types. A quick image identifies any type of plant with an extremely accurate 97.8% accuracy. The application also provides a detailed explanation of the care of the plant. Features include a light meter, watering calculator, and a maintenance system that ensures the plant receives the right amount of light for photosynthesis.
The app also includes a dedicated AI assistant that can answer plant-specific questions at any time of the day or night. This ChatGPT-style generative AI adds a personalized experience to comprehensive in-app content covering plant health and management. The plant medicine tool, also operated by artificial intelligence, is used to monitor the health of the plant and offers treatment solutions if the plant becomes ill.
PLNT is an app created by a start-up company based in Lithuania and available today in the Apple App Store.
