Fans Warn Jennifer Hudson Not to Date Common: ‘He’s Not Committing’

Jennifer Hudson celebrated Common’s 51st birthday with a sweet Instagram post amid dating rumours, but fans warned the singer to steer clear.

“Team Jhud please help me wish one of the brightest lights, a Chicago and hip hop legend, the one and only @common a very happy birthday today!” Hudson, 41, wrote in an Instagram post on Monday.

The “Respect” star also shared a photo of herself and the “Invocation” rapper snuggling up and flashing big smiles.

Common reposted his birthday tribute on social media.

“Thanks!” – signed the post on Monday in his Instagram Story.

Fans were quick to point out that Hudson may be confirming speculation that she and Common are an item.

“This is a ‘Soft Launch Insta Official’ 😉😉😉,” asked one person.

“Is that confirmation or not?” another pressed it.

“You’re cute together,” gushed a third fan.

However, others warned the “Dream Girls” actress against dating the hip-hop legend, with some even calling Common “emotionally unavailable.”

“The new hide? I hope not, he can do better. Don’t get me wrong, he’s a great person, but he’s non-committal and has been hurt by more than one person. But happy birthday,” claimed one critic.

“This man has commitment issues, please don’t be another piece in his puzzle,” another person agreed.

“Better not Jen!!!! No she always takes icons and leaves them in friend status., This man’s foal is not marriage. RUN!!! Unless you’re having fun,” said another.

“Are you the latest it gurl? Don’t get caught up in the game, sister,” added another.

Common, whose real name is Lonnie Rashid Lynn, was most recently in a relationship with 43-year-old Tiffany Haddish for nearly a year before calling it quits in November 2021.

He’s also reportedly dated a bunch of famous women, including Erykah Badu, Taraji P. Henson, Serena Williams, and Angela Rye.

The “Just Wright” star shares daughter Omoye Assata Lynn, 26, with ex Kim Jones, whom he dated in the 90s.

Meanwhile, Hudson was previously engaged to 42-year-old David Otunga – with whom she shares 13-year-old son David Jr. – although they split in 2017.

Hudson’s public birthday message to Common appeared to confirm rumors that they were dating, though their reps did not immediately respond to Page Six’s request for comment.

There were rumors of a relationship between the pair as early as 2022, but Hudson was coy about the claims.

“People create their own narratives and it’s like, OK, you know how you feel,” she told Entertainment Tonight last September when asked about dating.

She added: “We did a film together and he played my husband. Between these moments you have to eat.”

Then in January, Radar Online reported that the Chicago natives had been dating for months, and the pair further fueled romance rumors when they were spotted on a date at Nobu in Malibu in February.
