Something Strange is coming to Disney+ on 23 December. Prepare for an adventure that spans strange worlds and countless stars, with no limits to where your imagination can go. I’m happy to report Disney’s Strange world is heading to the mouse-eared streaming service in time for the holidays 23 December!

Per Disney’s official press release:

Disney’s Strange world introduces a legendary family of explorers, the Clades, as they attempt to navigate an unknown, treacherous land alongside a motley crew that includes a mischievous blob called Splat; Legend, the family dog; and a host of ravenous creatures. The voice cast includes Oscar and Tony Award-nominated actor Jake Gyllenhaal as Searcher Clade, a family man who finds himself out of his element on an unpredictable mission; Emmy and two-time Golden Globe nominee Dennis Quaid as Searcher’s larger-than-life father, Jaeger. comedian, actor, writer, filmmaker and musician Jaboukie Young-White as Searcher’s 16-year-old, adventure-seeking son, Ethan; actress, producer, best-selling author and TIME100 cover honoree Gabrielle Union as Meridian Clade, a skilled pilot and Searcher’s partner in all things; and critically acclaimed actress, producer, director and fine artist Lucy Liu as Callisto Mal, Avalonia’s fearless leader who spearheads the exploration of the strange world. Helmed by director Don Hall (Oscar-winning Big Hero 6, Raya and the Last Dragon) and co-director/writer Qui Nguyen (co-writer Raya and the Last Dragon), with Roy Conli (Oscar-winning Big Hero 6, Tangled) produces Strange world is at the cinema now.

Unfortunately, Disney rushes to bring Strange world to Disney+ soon after its theatrical release, likely due to the film’s poor performance at the box office. According to analysts, Strange world could lose $100 million in theaters. However, I think this is due to something other than the quality of the film. Advertising for Strange world has been minimal in the lead-up to its release, and parents remain concerned about bringing their children to packed theaters during an ongoing public health crisis. So it is Black Panther: Wakanda Forever factor. Everyone still flocks to see Marvel’s latest superhero epic, leaving behind films like Strange world in the breeze. Remember that animated films don’t always put your butt in the seats. It’s all about timing, range and crushing the competition.

Do you want to watch Strange world in the case of Disney+ on 23 December? I have already added this news to my Google calendar. This year there will be one Strange world and Glass onions Christmas at the Seigh household. Ho ho ho!
