Disney+ launches in the Philippines – What’s happening on Disney Plus

Disney+ continues its global rollout today, with the streaming service launching in the Philippines, offering a huge selection of movies and TV shows from Disney’s iconic brands, including Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars and National Geographic and Star.

Disney+ is available on a wide variety of mobiles and TVs subject to users’ chosen subscription plans, including smartphones and tablets (Android or iOS), smart TVs such as Samsung and LG and connected TV devices, including Google TV and other Android TV OS, Apple TV 4K and Apple TV HD and Chromecast.

There will be two levels available, Mobile and Premium:

  • A mobile plan for P159 ($3) monthly or P1150 ($20) annually
  • A premium plan for P369 ($6) monthly or P2,950 ($50) annually

The Premium plan offers high-quality viewing in 4K, with up to four simultaneous streams and the ability to create up to seven different user profiles per account. While the mobile plan will be a little more limited, with only one simultaneous stream at a time, and it will only be available in HD (720p).

Jay Trinidad, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Direct-to-Consumer, The Walt Disney Company Asia Pacific said in a statement:

“As Disney+ continues to expand globally, we are excited that starting today, consumers in the Philippines can access Disney+ and start enjoying our extensive collection of general entertainment content. I am proud that through Disney+ we are able to bring joy and happiness to more fans, families and friends in my home country of the Philippines who can now connect with their favorite characters and enjoy some of the world’s best stories.”

There’s a lot of great content coming to Disney+ post-launch, including:

  • November 17: Limitless with Chris Hemsworth – Global movie star Chris Hemsworth (Extraction, Thor, The Avengers) explores the revolutionary idea that we can fight aging and discover the full potential of the human body in this National Geographic Original series.
  • November 18: Mickey: The Story of a Mouse – A fascinating Disney documentary about one of the world’s most beloved icons who is now recognized as a symbol of joy and innocence in virtually every corner of the globe.
  • November 18: Disenchanted – An all-new live-action musical comedy and sequel to Disney’s blockbuster Enchanted, about a lovable maiden from the fairyland of Andalasia who finally finds her Prince Charming in the kingdom of New York City.
  • November 21: Elton John Live: Farewell from Dodger Stadium – In a special, once-in-a-lifetime live event, fans from around the world will feel like they have a front-row seat to see the magic of Rocket Man in Elton John’s final north. American show in Los Angeles.
  • November 25: The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special – In this Marvel Studios special, the Guardians go to Earth in search of the perfect gift to make Christmas unforgettable for Peter Jason Quill, a Celestial-Human hybrid.
  • November 30: Willow – An all-new sequel series to George Lucas’ 1988 fantasy adventure, the wizard Nelwyn returns, years after rescuing the infant empress Elora Danan, to lead a group of misfit heroes on a harrowing rescue mission through a world beyond fantasy.
  • December 7: Connect – A Star Original comes exclusively to Disney+ about a man kidnapped by a gang of organ harvesters who wakes up after the procedure to find his eye missing and a vision of a notorious serial killer.
