Disney CEO Bob Chapek gives update on Disney+ ad-supported tier launch – What’s happening on Disney Plus

The long-awaited ad-supported tier of Disney+ launches in the US on December 8, 2022, which will offer a choice for subscribers that will give viewers the flexibility to choose an option that suits their needs and budget.
There will be two tiers, the Disney+ Basic (with ads) will be priced at $7.99 a month, and the Disney+ Premium (without ads) tier will be priced at $10.99 a month.
Recently, during the Walt Disney Company’s latest quarterly financial results, Disney CEO Bob Chapek shared more details about the upcoming ad-supported tier.
The offering also adds a key component to our overall corporate advertising portfolio, and advertiser interest has been strong. We have been a leader in streaming advertising for some time and bring our years of experience, leading ad technology and relationships to this important opportunity. Disney+ has secured more than 100 advertisers for our domestic launch window, spanning a wide range of categories, and our company has over 8,000 existing relationships with advertisers who want the opportunity to advertise on Disney+.
Strong base rates reflect the value advertisers place on our audience, our brand-safe environment for their messages and our sales experience. We also have proven technology to deliver a great ad experience on day 1. And most importantly, we have the ability to scale and innovate for both audiences and advertisers. We’re incredibly excited about the launch of our new ad-supported subscription offering for Disney+, launching on December 8th.
Disney CFO Christine M. McCarthy added:
We have Disney+ ad tier launch and ad monetization growth. And the indications we have so far are that they are very strong.
Currently, the ad-supported tier is only slated to launch in the US this year, with an international rollout of the ad-supported tier coming to other countries in 2023.
