Convicted sex offender uses apps to kidnap Arizona girl, later rape her, court documents allege

PHOENIX (3TV/CBS 5) — New court documents reveal that a registered sex offender in Utah met an Arizona teen on social media, then used a delivery app to find her address before abducting and raping her late last month. Jordan Sorenson is charged with rape and aggravated kidnapping. Investigators said he first commented on the 14-year-old’s TikTok and then messaged her on Snapchat. The 26-year-old got her address when she asked on social media if someone could send her food using a delivery app. The Mohave County Sheriff’s Office said the girl was on probation and had an ankle monitor. He was at home with his family and not in a group home situation.
A sex offender talked to an Arizona girl on social media before abducting and repeatedly raping her, according to new records.
Investigators said Sorenson drove to Arizona on or around Jan. 27. According to court papers, the girl snuck out to meet Sorenson but had no plans to leave with him. Investigators say he cut her ankle monitor with scissors even though she told him not to. Sorenson promised the victim that he would not leave her or stop talking or “bad things” would happen, court documents state.
He took them to a nearby place where he raped her, the prosecutor said. They then went to a Motel 6 in Arizona, where he raped her, authorities said. He later put her phone on airplane mode so they couldn’t be tracked. Sorenson took them to Las Vegas, where he canceled her phone and bought her clothes, a new phone and other items.
Sorenson then took them to his home in West Valley, Salt Lake County, Utah, where he told her to lie to her roommates about her age and forced her to hide in his room from her probation officer. According to court records, Sorenson raped her every night while she was at home. On January 31, the girl’s probation officer called the West Valley Police Department about her. Sorenson was seen getting into a car with Utah license plates in Mohave County, police said. Several law enforcement agencies worked together and found him at work and took him to his home. Utah Adult Probation and Parole agents searched the home and found the girl in her basement.
Sorenson was convicted in June 2020 of first-degree aggravated sexual assault and was on probation when these crimes occurred. He was placed on Utah’s sex offender registry. He was convicted in 2017 after befriending a 13-year-old girl in Wyoming, taking her to Colorado and having sex with her, according to court papers. As for the Arizona case, prosecutors did not ask for bond for Sorenson, which the judge agreed to.
