Cole Sprouse reveals he’s sober and thanks his girlfriend for life in Hollywood

The “Riverdale” star credited his girlfriend of two years, Ari Fournier, with “fixing” his life, saying “it’s in no small part thanks to her.”

Cole Sprouse opened up about his journey to sobriety and thanked his girlfriend, Ari Fournier, for helping him through the process. The Hollywood heartthrob explained that since starting a healthier lifestyle with the help of professionals, he’s a big fan of “cognitive behavioral therapy and psychiatry and all that stuff.” She also gave major props to Ari, whom she started dating in 2021. “My life has improved recently as a result of our relationship. I sobered up. I questioned my existence like never before,” he explained in the podcast. “I had the best financial years. My career is doing better. When the private sphere is closed, everything else comes from that foundation, and that’s in no small part due to him.”

Since Ari is a very important part of his life, Cole continued to see them! “[We met] through friends of friends, he began. “The first time I met him, he actually had a five-year relationship. We didn’t speak for two years. And by the time we met again, he was single.”

Romance blossomed from there, and now Cole calls Ari his “best friend.” He added: “We get on so well. We do everything together. Honestly, it’s been two years and some change and it’s been like a week. Incredible. I’ve never experienced this level of compatibility before and it makes me look back at my youth and go… you really didn’t know.”

It’s unclear if Cole, 30, was referring to his not-so-distant youth, which includes his previous relationship Riverdale co-star Lili Reinhart with whom he dated between 2017 and 2020. However, it also served this romance! “I think the reason the work was difficult was because it was hard to put the way we felt about each other on hold,” Cole shared. “He didn’t afford us the luxury of distance to really tackle that. I think we both did each other a lot of damage.” However, Cole said that he and Lili are “good friends now”. He also confirmed that they “work very well together” now that it’s been years since their split.
