Bryce Dallas Howard joins The Watcher star on the Disney+ show

Bryce Dallas Howard has been cast in an upcoming pilot for a Disney+ series inspired by Witch Mountain.
The Jurassic World star will be joined by The Watcher actress Isabel Gravitt in this modern version of the Disney fantasy (via Variety).
The pilot will see “two teenagers who develop strange abilities and discover that their sleepy suburb may not be as idyllic as it seems”.

According to the character descriptions, Howard and Gravitt will play mother-daughter duo Audrey and Tia.
The latter is a heterosexual student who is terrified of failure and fears that her late father’s schizophrenia is beginning to show in her. She has the ability to see people’s darkest desires through a kind of “hallucinations” where others go outside their living bodies to express their innermost thoughts.
Audrey is Tia’s reassuring, loving mother. A “mama bear” type, Audrey can also carry a secret.
StreamlineLevi Miller will play Ben, a troubled teenager who discovers that he can force others around him to move according to his will and feels an attraction to Tia. WeCrashed‘s Bianca ‘b’ Norwood and Right manJackson Kelly stars as Corey and Peter, best friends of Ben and Tia, respectively.

Star Trek: Picard Writers Travis Fickett and Terry Matalas co-wrote the pilot and serve as executive producers. Augustine Frizzell, known for being behind the camera for episodes of Euphoriawill direct and produce the pilot.
Based on the book of the same name published in 1968, Escape to Witch Mountain was released in 1975 and was followed by two sequels in 1978 and 1982. The 1990s saw a made-for-TV adaptation, while the latest in the franchise is a 2009 film starring Dwayne Johnson.
