BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) – A 22-year-old Bend man was arrested at work Wednesday on charges of sexually assaulting and strangling an 18-year-old boy he met on the online dating app Tinder, police said Thursday as they search for others who came into contact with him during the incident. or similar application.
Police detectives determined the 18-year-old Bend woman began communicating with Hutson Aidan Naylor on Tinder in mid-February and continued communicating with him on Snapchat, Bend Police Communications Manager Sheila Miller said.
They arranged to meet at his home on NW Cumberland Avenue on Feb. 22, Miller said.
Naylor gave the woman alcohol and reported that they initially had consensual sex, but when it became painful, she said no and told Naylor she was in pain.
“He did not stop,” a police spokesman said in a news release.
“When the 18-year-old girl tried to leave after the incident, Naylor again forced sexual intercourse and did not stop when she said no, then choked her and attempted to initiate a third sexual encounter,” Miller said.
Naylor was arrested Wednesday at his workplace on SE Centennial Street and booked into the Deschutes County Jail on charges of first-degree rape, first-degree sodomy and strangulation.
During the investigation, Bend Police detectives learned that Naylor had previously been accused of similar incidents in the Eugene area, where four sexual assault charges were filed against him in 2017 and a fifth in 2021.
“Naylor was never charged with a crime related to these reports,” Miller said, adding, “The circumstances alleged in the reports are similar to the details Bend Police learned during the investigation.”
Deschutes County prosecutors initially filed only strangulation charges in the case, for which Naylor was arraigned Thursday afternoon. “The other charges are under investigation,” District Attorney Steve Gunnels told NewsChannel 21.
Naylor could have been released from jail after a court appearance Thursday, the jail said. He is due back in court on April 14 for an arraignment hearing on expected formal charges, court records show.
Miller said police are releasing her photo to talk to anyone who came into contact with Naylor on Tinder, Snapchat or other online dating apps. She said Naylor’s Tinder profile username is ‘fudgebadger’ and her Snapchat username is ‘tweak101’.
