Evelyn’s rocky romantic story (ex applied for a date when they were still together) left him in love. He says all of this is compounded by his Chinese-Australian upbringing, as well as being a child of divorce, which has left him unable to hold on.

Rupert, on the other hand, is described as a “cheeky larrikin tradie” who can chat with anyone. However, fans of the show are questioning the accuracy of this description after Rupert’s appearance as a super shy groom this season.

The wedding

Rupert was at a loss for words when his model bride from New South Wales walked down the aisle.

During the delightfully awkward interaction, Rupert, an electrician from Queensland, nervously struggled to greet Evelyn and could only say: “You’re very beautiful.”

Things took a turn for the worse as Rupert became so upset that he dropped the couple’s wedding rings. “He had a job!” Evelyn told the cameras.

Rupert later admitted he was intimidated by Evelyn’s beauty, admitting: “I was a bit nervous because she’s obviously beautiful.”

But for Evelyn, the feelings weren’t so obvious, revealing: “It wasn’t love at first sight.”

The honeymoon

During their honeymoon, the new couple took an intimate bath together to break the ice.

Throwing in rose petals and donning a white bikini for the romantic moment, Evelyn told the cameras: ‘For now I’m happy to be in charge. I’m just trying to build his confidence.”

But things didn’t quite go as planned when Rupert joined her in the tub. The groom was visibly uncomfortable with the temperature of the water and told Evelyn, “Ouch, this is getting hot,” before walking out mid-date.

Although the final engagement ceremony is yet to take place, recent footage of Evelyn and Rupert suggests their unlikely romance is growing stronger.

These pictures came shortly after a video shared by Evelyn’s boyfriend on TikTok sent fans into a frenzy. In the video, Evelyn can be seen “partying” with fellow cast members Duncan, Hugo and Harrison, even pouring champagne into Duncan and Harrison’s mouths.

Fans were quick to notice that Rupert (and his male partners) were missing from the video, asking if it was just an innocent get-together? Or a sign that something is wrong MAFS tomato?
